Ahoy Rafters!
We are glad to have you all on board as we embark on the next chapter of Raft’s journey.
I am excited to present this as the first official proposal for the Raft DAO community. The purpose of this proposal is to put forward Tempus Labs Inc. (“Tempus Labs”) as the service contractor responsible for the day-to-day running of the Raft DAO.
Why does this matter?
The goal is to implement the structure and processes necessary to make Raft a fully Decentralized Autonomous Organization (“DAO”) by the end of 2025. Raft has been live and impressively growing since its launch on June 5, 2023. However, we know that the DeFi landscape changes fast, where agility and responding quickly are highly beneficial. Therefore, we propose that to unlock Raft’s full potential, Tempus Labs becomes the service contractor of the Raft DAO.
This proposal places Raft DAO towards this goal by giving veRAFT token holders who have staked the power to (1) elect Tempus Labs and (2) remove Tempus Labs as the service provider, improving accountability and fostering decentralization.
Proposal
I propose Tempus Labs be elected as the service contractor responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of and growth of the Raft DAO (including the development of new features and products) on behalf of Raft DAO for an initial 2-year term, starting from the date the Snapshot vote associated with this proposal is successfully passed.
Scope of a Service Contractor
The day-to-day responsibilities of a service provider in this instance include:
- Prioritising and executing the product development roadmap to build and grow a long-term sustainable protocol
- Allocating the Ecosystems & Incentives funds (535,800,000 RAFT vested over 2 year years) to bootstrap the growth of R and diversify protocol-owned liquidity over the next 2 years. More info on tokenomics here.
.
Re-election
I propose that Tempus Labs be eligible for re-election as the service contractor after its initial two-year term has expired, subject to securing the requisite support from the veRAFT token holders per the existing governance process.
Should veRAFT token holders at any time wish to remove Tempus Labs as the service provider, they can do so, subject to securing the requisite support from the veRAFT token holders per the existing governance process.
The existing governance process can be found here: Raft - Governance Process.
Other considerations
To make the distinction between the Raft DAO and Tempus Labs even more explicit, I would also like to highlight that:
Tempus Labs promises the Raft community that it will not collude with or exert any influence whatsoever over veRAFT token holders regarding how they wish to vote on this proposal or, for that matter, any other proposal.
Next steps
This proposal will be open for the community to discuss until 13:45 UTC on Wednesday, 18 October. Please indicate using the poll below if you favour this proposal.
If there is support for this proposal, Tempus Labs will launch a Snapshot vote at 12:00 UTC on Thursday, 19 October, for approval.
